brief profiles

Behind those pretty faces and powerful decks, yes, there is a personality behind each character. I've written up brief profiles on each of the two, however, there are more extensive, indepth information located in fansites i've made for them (Johan currently upcoming). So, to get yourself better acquainted with the two, read below.

edo phoenix

Aster Phoenix of the D-hero deck. The fresh, new character from season 2 of GX, a professional duelist and young protege of the pro-league. In short of what I just said, he's an elite, exclusive duelist in which he is paid to duel. The celebrity of his time, he prides himself in excelling at everything he does, and that doesn't necessarily mean dueling. With two Ph.D's and a master at every sport, he's by far a boy-genius at 16. Beneath the outer surface, he's actually a vengeful teenager when a past uncomparable to any character from the GX series. His most treasured family member, his father, the illustrator for Industrial Illusions (the company that makes Duel Monsters card) had been murdered while he was still young, murdered for the purpose of stealing a valuable card to his fathers' disclosed card series - the D-heroes, which Edo inherited when he was older. Personality traits include ego-driven (like crazy), speeches about destiny (however, they are no longer used after season 2), a loner of sorts, however, speaks out for anything he believes in, and likes to serve justice to criminals. He may not find joy in dueling (he used to, as he said), but he duels passionately with rigid force, and continues to use his deck in every way possible to find a winning strategy. Edo is also ridiculously handsome and has tons of flocking fangirls from all over. Alas, the chapters in his story came to a close at the end of season 2, and he is now one of the supporting characters of season 3. Want more?

johan andersen

Jesse Andersen of the Jewel Beasts deck. Ah, who could forget one of the four new additions to the GX cast, the most important one, at that, Johan. He hails from a Duel Academia branch in the North, but has transferred to the island of the main GX cast to study along with them as an exchange student. Johan, too, is a branch of "elite" duelists, but he isn't considered professional like Edo, more like, the champion of North Academy (the school he came from). We don't know much about his hobbies, but we do know he shares the same passion and enjoyment for dueling as Judai Yuki (main character), as well as an outgoing personality. However, unlike Judai, Johan does take his duels seriously to it's extent, and will probably never get as oblivious and Judai will ever be. Johan is tremendously special. Why? Because like Judai, he can see duel spirits, and has a couple of his own - his deck (just like Judai's Neospacians and his Hane Kuriboh). Johan is the key holder of the best card in his deck (which I believe his soul is also attached to), the Rainbow Dragon. Personality traits include being very energetic, loves to smile, defends his friends at any cost, self-sacrificing, and enjoys the excitement of dueling. Since he is close friends with each monster in his deck, it's no surprise that he'll lay down anything on the line to defend them. Unlike alot of champions, however, Johan doesn't share the same egotistical manner that Edo or Hell Kaiser do. Oh, another important thing to remember. The Jewel Beast deck chose him for their owner. And he's right behind Edo Phoenix on Pegasus Maximillion's "top 5 finest duelists" (Edo is #4, Johan, #5).
